Ladies, stop trying to be humble

I’ve really been taking inventory about how good my life is lately.

In fact, I was visiting with a lovely friend of mine this weekend and I spent a good amount of time just talking about all of my happiness.

And then I apologized. Ugh!

I apologized for being happy and perhaps coming across as bragging.

And she was so kind to point this out to me.

She didn’t feel I needed to apologize for being happy. She was happy for me too!

As women we get this message that being happy is arrogant, that we need to lead with our problems to avoid being threatening.

Well, I invite you to remember my friend’s wisdom today, and every day after.

You are meant to have wild happiness and you do not need to dim your joy in order to seem less threatening to others.

Anyone who needs that from you isn’t at the level that you need for your own growth.

So surround yourself with women who want to see you succeed, and normalize sharing your wins.

And a big thank you to my friend for reminding all of us that we can relish our happiness with our tribe.
